The Wieliczka Salt Mine, located in Wieliczka near Krakow is one of the world's oldest operating salt mines. Since the 13^th century, together with the Bochnia Salt Mine it was a part of Żupa Krakowska. The process of salt-making began in Wieliczka about 3500 years BC and belongs to the oldest in Europe. Within seven centuries over 7, 5 million m³ of salt has been mined in this area.

Oświęcim (Auschwitz-Birkenau) is the largest to concentration and extermination camp, established by the Nazis on the 27th April 1940 by order of the head of SS – Heinrich Himmler. Auschwitz-Birkenau was the largest of the concentration camp complexes created by the Nazi German regime. It is a symbol of terror, genocide, and the Holocaust, where about 1.1 – 1, 5 million people were killed, of whom almost 90% were Jews.
